Our fellow greens in Hernando engaging folks at the farmers market. It was quite fun and got a lot of traffic. It was fun to join them and meet a quite engaged crowd. Here’s a quick pick we took.
We would like to strongly urge Greens and the broader public to support Harriet Heywood who is organizing a vigil to call attention to the inhumanity of Governor Rick Scott and his legislators who have turned their backs on hard-working Floridians who cannot afford the high cost of health insurance. Governor Rick Scott has turned down billions of our tax dollars, essentially sentencing thousands to death yearly. This vigil is held for the 2,200 victims who will die this year as a result of Rick Scott and his members in the legislature refusing to expand Medicaid in Florida.
Details from Harriet Heywood:
Friday, October 17th, 2:00 PM, we are doing a petition drop with all of your signatures from 3 petitions from Linda, Chris and myself to Governor Scott’s office, and the following day, Saturday, October 18th, 5:00 PM, we will be holding a vigil to mourn the 2,200 people like you and I who will die this year without coverage in Florida.
We hope you will be able to make it for the vigil. The vigil starts at 5 PM. Wear dark clothes and bring a sign. Also, bring a flashlight or candle, in case we stay past dark. We are looking for speakers from Faith, Healthcare, and Veteran’s Groups. Let me know if you are interested in speaking.
Please sign up for the event below.
We will win this fight,
Harriet Heywood
